SHPI Speed Controller Selection Guide
SHPI Speed Controllers, also known as Flow Control Valves, are designed to control the speed of cylinders, grippers, and other pneumatic actuators. By adjusting the throttling needle, the flow rate of air (or fluid) is regulated to achieve smoother motion, reduced impact, and consistent operating speed.
In SHPI One Touch Fitting systems, the speed controller works by rotating the knob to change the opening of the throttle port. When the knob is turned, the internal needle moves forward or backward, narrowing or enlarging the passage and changing the effective flow path. Simply put: a narrower and longer passage slows the flow; a wider and shorter passage increases the flow.
Types
SHPI Speed Controllers are available in two commonly used styles:
- Straight Male Thread
- Straight Union (Dual Push-in Type)
Tubing & Thread Options
1) Metric System (BSPT / G-thread) (Blue release ring)
- Tubing size: Ø4, Ø6, Ø8, Ø10, Ø12 mm (recommended with SHPI PU, PA, LDPE, and Anti-Spark tubing)
- BSPT (PT) threads: M3×P0.5, M5×P0.8, M6×P1.0, PT1/8–PT1/2
- G-thread (BSPP): G1/8–G1/2 (all include O-ring)
2) Inch System (NPT) (Black release ring)
- Tubing size: 1/8" – 1/2" (recommended with SHPI PU, PA, LDPE, and Anti-Spark tubing)
- Thread options: NPT 1/8 – NPT 1/2
